// Perfect Fit Finder

Perfect Fit Finder

Object - Find objects to try and fill every hole on the Perfect Fit Finder. A perfect fit should hold the object within the hole and it not drop out

Purpose - Finding a Perfect Fit between two unrelated objects, gives you a strange sense of pointless satisfaction. The objects are not made to fit together, but by chance they are exactly the right size to fit to what can only be called perfection.

Once the first fit is found, it becomes an obsession almost an addiction, only satisfied when every hole is filled.

// 'Stolen' Exhibition - Arden and Anstruther Gallery

A photographic response to a brief based around a quote from the late Paul Arden, "Steal, but only the things that speak directly to your soul. Its not where you take things from, it where you take things to. Celebrate thievery". The concept of 'Under the cover of darkness' exploits the competitive nature of suburban front gardens, by manipulating an entire roads plant pots onto one households front garden.

// What is Watt

What is Watt

A 1st year project experimenting with light and photographic film.

We have all made the mistake of opening the back of the camera before winding back the film, I wanted to see the images I could produce from this process, without any light having ever traveled through the lens to the film. I have taken three different watt bulbs. A 35 watt energy saving bulb, a regular 60 watt bulb and a red fire-glow 60 watt bulb. The three images shown above are the exact frames when the light was exposed to the film for all 3 bulbs. The aim was to find out how different sources and strengths of light can effect the film, would the reaction always be the same.

The entire length of film No.3 - 60 Watts red bulb. Showing the exact point where the film was exposed to the light source at frame 18 (highlighted), allowing us to see the light traveling in either direction of the film.

// Middlesbrough - Still In Bed

Middlesbrough - Still In Bed

People who live in Middlesbrough are the laziest in Britain.

Residents there lie in bed until 8.12am, whereas the average Brit gets up at 6.48am.

After finding out that the laziest town in Britain was Middlesbrough, i was intrigued and began to have a wonder around, via Google street view. To my amazement the town of Middlesbrough was actually still asleep. The images taken are in broad daylight yet there is not a soul to be seen.

I designed a book which highlighted the fact that Middlesbrough has been caught and proven by Google street view, that they are in fact the laziest town in Britian. I focused on screen shots of Empty Car Parks, Closed Corner Shops, Abandoned Road Works and Empty Bus Shelters. The book is made up of 50 images to really show the extent of how empty Middlesbrough is.

This is 100% real go and check middlebrough on street view for your self

// Nightmare

// Nightmare

Eisoptrophobia - an abnormal and persistent fear of mirrors.
Exploring the fear certain individuals suffer from sleeping in a room with mirrors, evoking a sense of being trapped in an unfamiliar environment; the mirror offering a glimpse into an imaginary space.

^^
By placing these mirrored sheets of metal between parts of the body, we were able to create this distorted image of a person, which we then photographed and photocopied on to acetate sheets in order to project the images back though mirrors on Over Head Projectors

For the final piece we took the projections into a bedroom,highlighting the context of the phobia.
Rather than projecting the images straight on to the wall they are directed into a mirror in front of the bed and reflected back towards the wall, amplifying the uncomfortable confusion the mirror provides. The shot was then taken looking into another mirror, confusing the viewer even more to what is really going on.

France - Grandmother.

At the age of 77 my French Grandmother has decided to reside further down south of France, I visit the French side of my family regularly through out the year....like i have been doing for the past 21 years, i have spent an enormous amount of time as a child in my grandmothers house and i took it as an opportunity to capture some memories of her house and my childhood spent there En Normandie.

Carlo Van De Roer - SEA

Website
Swimming and being in the sea, to me is one of the most important aspects of being alive. I think Carlo's Photos of Swimming Culture are outstanding, the vast - open composition he captures is what i find absolutely exhilarating about sea swimming.

Summer is approaching and soon a return to the sea swim.

Perfect Fit Project

Perfect Fit
During March and April i have been working on a project observing how unrelated objects can fit perfectly in harmony as if they were made to fit together. I have been filtering through object after object after object seeking the perfect fit. There is a sense of satisfaction when you find a fit, once you begin finding fits it becomes almost an obsession to find more.

Project Experiments
The video shows the subtly of these two unrelated objects fitting as if they were made to do so. The cocoa cola can is the perfect circumference so that when it is dropped into the Heinz soup can it drops down gently as the air escapes from the smallest of gap between the two cans. Quite an astonishing find, with two such everyday and ordinary objects.

Charlie Engman

Charlie Engman

Check this guys work out, his photographic style is phenomenal. It's utterly amazing how he uses the human body within his work. Great inspiration.

I Particularly like how this half loaf of bread fits perfectly into the corner of this windowsill, brilliant capture.

Cowley Club - Brighton

Cowley Club - Brighton
Here is a small video that gives you a good sense of the atmosphere in this place.

The Cowley Club is a social centre on London Road in Brighton. It houses a cafe and bookshop during the day, a members bar during the evenings, it also has a library and is a base for a variety of other projects.

The club is run entirely by volunteers! Everyone gives their time for free and works together without bosses.

I think this place is amazing, my first experience was in 2007 when a friend of mine played on an open mic night, amongst other acts. Was really taken by the variety of people and music that is found in such a small little place. Brilliant - makes me miss Brighton.

Special Farm

During Easter back at home, i went on a spontaneous trip to middle farm near Eastbourne. Basically every animal in that farm was a bit special. This pig who scrambled up to lean on this wall, fell and slipped scaring the pig in the pen next door. I mean i have never seen a pig in this position or posture, you just want to pop him a beer on the side, for pure enjoyment

Tilt-Shift

"The Sandpit" A Day In The Life of NYC, by Sam O'Hare
The Sandpit film showcases a day in New York City shooting from all different locations uses the tilt-shift trick, which has now officially become my new favorite camera effect.
